Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is for all families with children between the ages of birth and kindergarten. The program recognizes that families provide children’s first and most important learning environments and parents are children’s first and most significant teachers.

ECFE strengthens families through the education and support of all parents to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children. The programs bring parents together to share the joys and challenges of parenthood and develop confidence in their own abilities.

ECFE Classes

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes provide families a time to learn and play together from birth to kindergarten.

A variety of classes are offered throughout the whole school year starting the week of September 12 and going through the middle of May.

Offerings include: Year-long classes, short-term sessions and even drop-ins. Costs are under the ECFE registration section.

Babies

(Birth - 1 year)

ECFE welcomes you and your baby to share your joys and concerns with new parents. Learn about your baby's emotional, social and physical development through discussions focused on the interest of the group. All baby classes have an ongoing enrollment throughout the year, so you can join at any time - and bring a friend!

1 Year Olds

(1 year)

Explore the wonder of your child’s expanding world through a variety of planned activities. In this class, parents and young toddlers play and learn together. Time will be provided for parent discussion in the classroom. Parents and Children do not separate.

2 Year Olds

(2 years)

Your two year old will find lots of creative activities to challenge them in the classroom and will begin to make new friends. Parents will separate from the children’s classroom to discuss the joys and challenges of parenting two year olds.

3 Year Olds

Mixed Ages Play Group

(Birth - 3 years)

Welcoming children birth to 3 years old. Come and engage in purposeful and interactive play with your children in this class of movers and shakers. Parents and children stay together while enjoying regular classroom activities along with movement areas, art, and story time. Parents and children will participate in an interactive circle time with singing and movement activities before heading home.

Registration will stay open so new families are always welcome to join!

Special Events

Wheels, Wheels, Wheels

Wheels, Wheels, Wheels

Parents and children will be able to see, touch, and climb in, on, and around a variety of vehicles! Everything from firetrucks and ambulances to buses and backhoes and everything in-between. We've even been known to bring in a crane! There's something for everyone. Don't miss out on this fun-filled family event.

This event is Free! No need to register. Just come on over and explore!

Sibling Care

(ages 4 months - 5 years old)
Sibling care is available during all age-specific ECFE classes for siblings of children enrolled in classes. Infants under four months old are welcome to attend class with the parent. Babies older than four months are not allowed in age-specific classes; please use sibling care or make other arrangements for childcare.

Sibling care registration must be made at the time of class registration.

Registrations will be accepted throughout sessions until the classes are full.

Registration Details

ECFE classes are open to all families with children from birth to three year olds.
To keep classes safe and comfortable for participants, we do limit the number of families in each class.
Assume that you have gotten into class unless you are notified differently. If you pay by credit card online, your card will be charged as soon as your child is enrolled.
You may ask to be put on a waiting list if the class you want is full. Class openings do occasionally become available.
Registrations will be accepted throughout the sessions until the classes are full.

Sliding Fee Information

Our goal is to provide affordable, quality programming for all families. Class fees are based on your total family income; see the scale below. Payment for class and sibling care must accompany registration. No Chisago Lakes School District resident will be turned away because of an inability to pay the listed fees. Class fees may be reduced or waived. All payments will be confidential.

Use your gross annual household income to determine the suggested fee for each class. Include the fee amount in the space provided online. Fill out the online form completely and include payment for class and sibling care, if needed. Sorry, no registrations will be processed without the fee.

Class Refund/Cancellation Policy

Before the session begins, a full refund is issued for cancellations
Refund after attending the first class:
* If paid in full - 75% of the fee paid
* If paid in half - 50% of the fee paid
No refund will be given after the second week of class.
Class fees will not be refunded for classes canceled due to weather or family illness/sick days.
ECFE reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Full refunds will be given.
You will not be called to confirm registration, but we will notify you if a class is canceled or full
